Humble Cuisine - breakfast, day 4, part 1: a very flexible fruit...

Humble Cuisine

            about this blog!

              i enjoy cooking.

it's as simple as that.         (sometimes i'll even bake,

          if i have the patience.)

i am definitely a fan of things

       like butter and bacon, but

i also believe it is absolutely    possible to cook incredible meals

           that are also healthy

         and low-fat/low calorie.

       i especially love discovering

        new recipes, techniques,

     and cooking/kitchen products,

and now i can share them with you,

as well as my personal endeavors!

breakfast, day 4, part 1: a very flexible fruit salad.
the basic point of this recipe is that you can pretty much do whatever you prefer. mix a bunch of fruit together, add a bit of fruit juice, maybe some cheese or nuts or herbs - voilà. for winter he suggested more of a tropical mix, possibly w/ some avocados, lime, cilantro, & a pinch of chili, all of which i have on hand. i’ve heard about seasoning fruit this way, & have wanted to try it for some time. for fruits, i used mango, kiwi, & pear. it sounds weird, but the flavors all combine really well. sweet, sour, a smidge of spice, plus the cilantro. mmm…
(also, the reason this is “part 1” & that yesterday’s dinner post was late was that i ended up spending the night in gainesville. however, all my friends had work this morning, so i left when the friend i was crashing with (thanks, michelle!) left for work, & made the 2 hr trek back to yulee.
so i’m tired. & not so hungry after my big coffee w/ soy milk.  today’s breakfast was supposed to include breakfast bulgur w/ maple syrup & dried fruit, but i’m not feeling a big breakfast. i’m thinking i may take a late morning nap, then have the second half post-nap. if i do that, i may also skip lunch, have my afternoon snack, & then eat an early dinner. we’ll see.)
p.s. you may notice i’m no longer mentioning the coffee in my breakfast posts. let’s just say coffee is a given. ;o)
